Event in Calvary Rosarito

July 20th – 24th of 2026

I could say with complete assurance that this is the most eagerly awaited event of the whole year, and of course the parents look forward to it as well, possibly even more than their own kids.

It is a breath of fresh air smack dab in the middle of summer vacations, when the kids are bored and have nothing to do and have already eaten all the snacks and food that were supposed to last the entire month 🤣🤣. At that exact moment is when the ecclesiastical intervention comes in (When the church comes to help the families); it’s the time when, as the church says, HEY PARENTS, send your kids to our VBS where they are gonna have sooooo much fun they are gonna be so tired, and not only that, but they will learn about GOD, but we should mention that the kids don’t stay at the church overnight. We have learned that while we love the kids, the servants also need a little fresh air every day as well. (It’s me, Christian. I’m trying to be funny; it’s difficult in my second language 😅)

The topic this year was The Good Shepherd. We used Answers in Genesis’ VBS curriculum, and the theme was Emerald Adventure (or Aventura Esmeralda here in Mexico)

Although it may sound like we did all the work, the truth is we are greatly blessed by other churches who come and take over our VBS. They do activities, plays, skits, puppets, the teaching, and more. The church in Rosarito pitches in by preparing food and taking care of the groups of kids.

This year we want to give a shout-out to the church Calvary Raynham, which donated the curriculum for the second year in a row and brought down a team to lead and coordinate activities.

But one of the best parts was seeing the kids who were 11 and 12 years old arrive on the first day apathetic, trying to act older than they really are, making it look like they considered everything boring, and then to see them on the second day- wow! Their hearts had changed, and they turned back into kids playing, dancing, and learning about God. It made me say, “That is what this is about: this place, this week, this moment is where they can be kids and learn about Jesus.

Every year is special, but if you will allow me to say it, this year was doubly special. How so? This year, an entire children’s home was able to come and be part of VBS. This is something we had prayed about and worked with the children’s home in order to do it. We saw God work, and seeing these little ones have fun and make friends was incredible for me. That was the cherry on top.
